| As you can see I have worked with a wide range of children and young people of different ages and with individual needs. I pride myself on being child and family focused in all my work. It is because of this that I like to meet the parents and the children before the first sit/event. This gives you a chance to ask me any questions and for the children and I to meet beforehand. In my experience this lessens any anxieties the children may have about having a new carer/sitter for the first time. This also gives me a chance to ask you questions about your child's individual needs and any other information I may need to make the sit/event run as smoothly as possible. |
|
Whilst in my various jobs I have undertaken many courses, both internal training and academic training including; |
| Autism and Behaviour Management, Behaviour management in Dance, Behaviour Management in School, Child Protection, Children and Anger, Manual Handling, Mentoring. |

Yes I am a man working in childcare A
lot of people have misconceptions of men working in childcare. Whilst I
understand this to a degree I feel I would like to take this opportunity
to explain the benefits of having a male child carer. |
| *A
positive male role model (Children need positive role models of both
genders. I have in the past had single mums change the day
their child came to nursery so that their child could have a positive male
role model in their life)
*Someone to relate to (A lot of boys would prefer to have a man looking after them because they feel they are able to relate to them better) *Safety (When out and about people are statistically less likely to target a child with a man with them) *Men are just as able as women to look after children and sometimes better |
